Written & Directed by: Rob Zombie
Starring: Bill Moseley, Sheri Moon Zombie & Richard Brake
3 From Hell…
is the 3rd installment from Rob Zombie about the Firefly clan. This is preceded by the 1st film House of 1000 Corpses in 2003 and then The Devil’s Rejects in 2005. (Though if this is news to you, then you might as well give up on being a Horror Fan completely and go watch some RomComs!)
Picking up right where The Devil’s Reject’s leaves off we see just how our favorite, Insane yet lovable, outlaws come back from Hell.
Though this review will be spoiler free, the posters and the starring credits might make a few things pretty easy to figure out.
Above we credit the film as “Starring: Bill Moseley, Sheri Moon Zombie & Richard Brake” yet we intentionally leave out everyone’s favorite psycho clown. Captain Spaulding, played by Sid Haig, does make an appearance in the film but it’s very brief and sadly leaves us wanting more.
Sid Haig, along with Bill Moseley, and Sheri Moon Zombie truly are The Devil’s Rejects. To make up for the loss of such a prominent figure in the trio, we’re introduced to Otis and Baby’s other brother Winslow Foxworth Coltrane, played by Richard Brake.
With that said, it kind of reminds me of how Curly was swapped out with Shemp in the 3 Stooges. Meaning, yes it was a shock and a disappointment to lose one of our favorite characters on screen but the actor’s well being was much more important. Also, as with Shemp, Winslow fit right in without missing a beat.
Sid Haig is a phenomenal actor and though he may not look it, he’s now 80 years old. I suspect his role was only cut short due to the rigorous filming schedule and trauma that playing a part in a film like this will take on a person’s body. This is completely understandable. Either way, Captain Spaulding is still that most Bad Ass Clown to ever fry a chicken!
On to the show…
What can we say without giving anything away?
Well, there’s lots of action, blood and carnage. Not as much as in the previous 2 films but a fun ride nonetheless! Otis, Baby, and Winslow tear up the road leaving Hell everywhere they go.
If you’re a fan of the the first 2 films then you definitely don’t want to miss out on seeing
3 From Hell!
